Inside an airsoft gun, there is typically a spring, piston, and cylinder mechanism (in spring and electric guns) or a gas reservoir (in gas-powered guns) that propels plastic BBs. The gun also contains gears, a hop-up unit to add spin to the BBs for accuracy, and a magazine to hold the ammunition.
