No, you don't need the battery. That's to power the FCU of an HPA engine. It is not required for a gas blow back pistol or rifle.

Hey i was looking into my first hpa setup for my marui hi capa and am a little confused, do i need that lipo battery in this bundle for something im overseeing? Or is that intended for users using this with polarstar style engines?
